Activity Groups
Newcomers Club of Reno-Sparks was formed in 1989 after a number of years as Welcome Wagon. The new organization was created to allow for membership following any lifestyle change, including moving, divorce, retirement, losing a spouse or having a newborn within the past two years.
Newcomers Club offers a monthly luncheon, which is also the Clubs’ general meeting. Luncheons are held at different venues throughout the area. At each luncheon, we have interesting programs. Members are encouraged to attend these luncheons.
There are two major activities in Newcomers Club each year that are held in conjunction with the general meetings. The Community Connections Fair brings up to 20 volunteer organizations that setup booths and provide members with the opportunity to learn about their organizations. The Fashion Show, which is the Newcomers premier event, features Newcomers Club models and escorts as well as raffle baskets made by Activity Groups.
Our activity groups are open to all members, men and women, singles and
couples. However, most meetings require reservations. Some card/game
groups have a regular list of players, but you may be able to sign up on
the substitute list. When enough people have indicated interest, new
activity groups are formed whenever we have a volunteer chair.
Activities for the more than 70 activity groups will be described in your monthly newsletter which arrives in your
mailbox about the fourth week of the month. If you do not receive your
newsletter, call the Newcomers Hotline, (775) 881-2040, and leave a message for Membership.
